My thoughts on politics and greed in Governments

I’ve been reading and watching videos talking about how bad things are and how bad things are going to get. I’ve especially heard a lot about insurance companies since the killing of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. I’ve been thinking about how we got into this mess our country and others have gotten into. Here are my thoughts.

It’s the CEO’s fault for implementing such things, but it’s the board of directors’ fault for pressing them to do so. It seems the board of a company’s job is just to make sure they make more money quarter after quarter, that’s what I think 90% of their job is. Now a lot of this is the fault of the stock market, what is usually the reason for higher profits? To get a higher stock price, because a higher stock price means more money for companies. It’s these things that hurt the people. Companies can’t be happy with steady profits, there have to be record profits. It’s not good enough for a company to be a mid-billion-dollar company that helps people more, they have to go toward being a trillion-dollar company that hurts the middle and lower classes. It’s just being heartless.

The country is being run like a business, raising taxes to make more profits, making people pay more for everything year after year so the country makes more. Then we try and get businesspeople in government they have the mindset of more profits, congress and the senate act like the board of a company, and they also look at how high or low the stock market is because the wealthy have to make their money. A businessperson can’t just turn off greed, it’s like a virus, they really don’t care about helping people. So, who would be in the government? I say people who are not businesspeople that have innovative ideas instead of rehashing old ones. Get people that want to help everyone instead of the 1%. The problem is with the government the way it is now, that isn’t going to happen. Companies are intruding more and more into government.

Now republicans say they’re for a smaller government, but that’s because they don’t mind companies lobbying for policies that hurt the people more than if we have a bigger one. A lean government would be nice if it would work. I think Democrats care more about the regular person, but they still have a lot of the same problems. If money wasn’t in elections and people got elected because of the ideas to help all, instead of having to listen to their doners we may be in a better situation. Also, if we got rid of the electoral college and gerrymandering…oh and the media and commercials that lie. That won’t happen though partly because we let it, but also because of greed. This isn’t just with our country, but with most countries. The only way to fix it is by electing people who have our best interests in mind, but the thing is if we try, they have to listen to the corrupt people or they don’t get voted into office, because the corrupt give them money to run. There are people who get into politics with the best intentions only go get sucked into the corruption and they by listening to the wealthy’s demands because they donate huge amounts of money, they also believe they can do some things they want to do to make the country better, the thing is that doesn’t work. Once they do a little, companies keep asking for more and before they know it they’re signing a bill that’s good for companies just to get some of what they want to get done. It’s a vicious circle that just keeps happening and getting worse and worse until we only have the poor and the wealthy and nothing in between.

These are only my thoughts; this is what I have seen going on for many years. Every election I hope things will get better, but it doesn’t. President Obama did the best he could and now so is President Biden, but it’s hard without backing from the republicans. Both sides have to work together for the best of the people and the country, but they can’t find middle ground on most things.

What do you think? Am I missing something? Let’s get a dialog on this subject and if there are any thoughts on how things can get better.
